iCelsius App Reviews

Permanent false Alarms

It reports every 8-14 seconds that the temperature has reached more than 250 Celsius even if the temerature is just abut 30 degrees. The false alarms are terrible annoying and do not allow using pre configured alarms as they are also triggered every few seconds.. Not usable at the moment. Nice idea with the app but there are way cheaper probes on the market that work way better.

Wrong app screen shots

The app that downloads is totally different to the screen shots shown here.

Still problematic

This app is an xtention of the related device. The device has a lot problems, especially receiving the wifi signals; very often signal reception is interrupted. But the direct connection is somewhat more reliable. İCelcius satem in essence could be an excellent device-software pair if these problems would be.

Funny programm

This is funny programm, it show 9-11C when real temperature is about 26-28C. It was started from 30C, and after some time temperature decreased to 2C

Has potential...

This product and app have a lot of potential, but many software bugs remain to be fixed. Syncing through your home network is supposed to then allow linkage through the internet, allowing remote monitoring from an iPad or iPhone, anywhere you go beyond your own wifi network. The connectivity, however, is inconsistent and frequently disconnects. Additionally, every time you switch to a different app screen on your device (like switching back to Settings so you can reconnect the wifi that you just lost...again), you lose all of the temperature history that youve been graphing. Very frustrating as that is the whole point to graphing. It is supposed to store your temperature and graphing history, but doesnt do so. On the plus side, the thermometer appears to be extremely accurate down to the tenth of a degree. You can even just blow on it lightly from a few feet away and it will register the temp change. Overall, good hardware, software needs work. Hope they fix it as Id really like to not have to return the product. Im perfecting brisket recipes and temp accuracy (and being able to see what it actually IS) is critical! UPDATE 5/29/16: Ok, sorry folks. As much as I wanted this thing to succeed, it is really just crap. Latest update just crashes repeatedly. Completely unreliable for what I need it to do. Returning it on Tuesday and demanding full refund. Dont bother purchasing until they fix EVERYTHING about their software, or better yet just buy from someone else.

Handy and accurate

I do love this product and its companion app is good. It works great. I dont have any trouble with the app. The only issues are small and they are with the equipment itself. The plug in doesnt stay plugged in very easy so I use a rubber band to hold it together and that fixes the problem. The other issue is the lights on the temperature probe are very difficult to see in daylight. All in all I would still recommend this product to friends and family. I love being able to put a brisket on the smoker and keep an eye on the meat temperature and the smoker temperature al from my smart device. Ive been known to plug my iPad in and set the display to never shut off and just leave the app open and watch it while doing other things. Like enjoying a cold beer with friends. And everyone can hep keep an eye on the meal. Makes for more fun.

Good device, app is OK

The app is fairly easy to use, but the recipes arent intuitive or even correct.

Great as a cigar hygrometer

Very accurate and convenient method to monitor temp and RH levels in my humidor while Im home or away using the remote monitoring. Looking forward to trying the BBQ temp probe I also bought.

Principal

Piece of junk. Doesnt work.

doesnt work

this app is deceptive it doesnt work you apparently have but hardware

Good start

The app seems to work as described. One significant issue I have is with the graph zoom. You can not zoom the temp scale to view a small range, say 65 - 80 deg. without also zooming the time scale to about a 5 second interval. This makes the graph in live data mode nearly useless.

Does the job.

I do refrigeration work for a living. This thermometer is pretty darn accurate. I stuck it in a glass of ice water and a measured 32.2°. Then I compared it with another thermometer and they were both within half a degree. The price is a little steep, but I guess thats because its a start up company. It ships very quickly. It only took two days to get the probe. The only complaint I have is that I have to take my phone out of its case in order to plug the probe into my phone. Id recommend this for anybody who uses a thermistor or temperature gauge on a regular basis.

Cool but needs updating

Cool app and accurate but the graph mode is useless, you cant zoom out to longer time scales. I need to be able to graph temperatures for several hours and see the graph as a whole, not flick through 30 second increments.

Very good for home science projects

I was skeptical about this product but can say that I am a happy user. I bought the 4" temperature probe because it has a wide temperature range and can also sense temperature down to 0.1 deg C or F. I put it right next to my Oregon Scientific home weather gadget (outdoor and indoor temperature and barometric pressure). I am happy to say that it is so sensitive that it can pick up temperature difference on different sides of the Oregon Scientific. (No more than 1 inch from the surface of the weather station. I have also used it to track my core body temperature fluctuation during the night. I taped the probe to the skin near the belly button and strapped the iPhone to my waste. I put also a piece of fleece over the temperature probe so that it wouldnt be distracted by non-body ambient temperature. It was quite amusing to see that the core body temperature actually had 9 peaks for one night. I plan to do a sleep study with my family members who have difficulty with sleep. This thing responds very quickly to temperature change. Overall I am satisfied. I like it that the data, once recorded, doesnt go away. To graph or to export the cdv, one can also specify the date/time range. I havent figured out how to change the sampling rate. I cant find it on the app how to do it. One is supposed to be able to change it from every 0.5 sec to 10 sec. I have just ordered CableJive dockstubz to give me the option to supply power through a mini usb port. When I did the sleep study, my iPhone ran out of battery after 5 hours even though I had the iPhone turned off. SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT: in the cdv file, it would be nice to have the time and date on separate columns.

iPhone Celsius

Good app but needs work, I work in a hospital , water Sensor needs to be Connected to a water supply so that when your away from the water supply lines it will call you, state requires Temperature cant exceed 110 degrees

Doesnt work under iOS 7

I used to like this product, but does not run at all under iOS 7. Please fix!

Better wait on this

I received this unit this week. I purchased the dual probe BBQ wireless unit. First of all the unit would never connect to my home wireless network; (I have all new equipment so thats not the issue) it only worked one time in a practice run on direct mode. When I tried to get it going this weekend it would not connect at so it was completely useless. I would wait until they have worked the bugs out! Very disappointing!

Not bad

This is a pretty cool app and device. Easy to set up and pretty useful. I use it to monitor ambient temperature for an industrial application and it works great. You can set up high and low limits and receive alerts based on those limits. You can chart history and even export to a csv file for archiving and sorting in Excel. Waiting for an update for remote access which Im told will be here soon.

Remote BBQ monitor that works!

I bought this app and the two probe BBQ thermometer a few months back on the the promise that it would be updated to allow the iPhone app to monitor temperatures over the internet - from anywhere. Well they have come through. After updating last week I spend a few days testing before writing this, and Im happy with the result. I can see two thermometers from any remote location. The frequency of update is adjustable when initially setting up the remote function. The battery on the BBQ thermometer lasted several hours updating every 2 minutes. Temperature alerts work remotely also. It will tell you when you pass the temperature that you set (high or low), and this can be adjusted within the app as you go. A few things to remember: The app does not update the temperature when it is not running (or is in the background). If you stop and restart the app, it will again begin tracking temperature, but wont have record of the temp data prior to its current session. All and all thats not a big deal to me. Also, I had to sign up for a google account and grant access to iCelcius for the remote interface. All and all, great functionality. Just what I was hoping for.
